(Furin) Patterned Japanese Wind Chime

$56

Furin, or Japanese wind chime, is a traditional summer item since its dinging sound reminds us of a cool breeze.

The tanzaku (paper strip that catches the wind) is made from Sugiharagami, a unique paper made in Taka-cho, Hyogo Prefecture. The paper is produced by using traditional, time-honed techniques, and was designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Hyogo Prefecture In 1983.

All the procedures are by hand and no bleach is used. 100% Ko (mulberry) paper is characterized by its natural white color and gentle texture.

Note:

  • Do not use furin in strong winds.
  • Hang it outdoors in a dry area.
  • Porcelain is fragile. Handle with care.
  • Check the item regularly. If it cracks or chips, stop using it.
