A small tumbler turned in azusa — Japanese cherry birch — for a well-chilled beer or a glass of cold barley tea. The Japanese name, mugihai, means "barley cup."
Wood holds the cold and barely sweats, so the glass stays comfortable in the hand and the table stays dry. Azusa is a firm, close-grained wood with a quiet, even figure; a clear nano-glass coating seals it against staining while leaving the grain in view. Grain and color vary from piece to piece.
