WAZA at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles
JAPAN HOUSE is a global initiative from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with three locations worldwide: Los Angeles, London, and São Paulo. Each is a place to encounter Japan directly — its design, food, technology, and culture — rather than read about it.
WAZA has been part of the Los Angeles site since September 2021, occupying the Level 2 retail space at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard.
A Shop you can Walk Into
Visitors come for the exhibitions, the library, the restaurant — and find, on their way through, a shop where Japanese craftsmanship is something they can pick up and take home.
What You’ll Find
Gold leaf from Kanazawa, hand-cut copper graters from Niigata, lacquer ware, incense, essential oils, leather goods, and Japanese pantry staples — made by workshops refining the same techniques for generations, alongside new work from designers reinterpreting them.
Ask Our Staff
Our staff can tell you who made each piece and why it’s made that way. That’s the part you can’t get from a photograph.
