The first cup Shozu Shikko released under its own name. A rounded form that settles into the palm, with a capacity chosen for daily use — tea, coffee, water, or something stronger.
Wood conducts heat slowly: pour a hot drink and the cup never scalds your fingers; pour a cold one and it stays cold longer and barely sweats, so no coaster is needed. The rim is turned thin and is soft against the lips.
This one is Japanese cherry — paler in grain than zelkova, with a faint blush of red in the wood. A clear nano-glass coating keeps it from staining. Grain and color vary from piece to piece.
