A juzu bead bracelet that brings together two cornerstones of Japanese craft: aizome fermentation indigo and beloved yamazakura mountain cherrywood.
Each cherrywood bead is hand-dyed by the AWAJI AILAND project — the same artisans who advise NHK's flagship historical dramas — using only naturally fermented indigo, with no chemical fixatives. The resulting deep navy is called kachi-iro (勝色), the 'victory color' Japanese samurai wore beneath their armor and reserved for moments of celebration.
The wood is left unsealed, so the indigo deepens and gains a soft luster with wear — the bracelet becomes, quite literally, yours over time. A master Kyoto juzu artisan finishes each piece by hand, threaded on quadruple silicone cord for everyday durability and presented in its own paulownia (kiri) gift box.
A meaningful daily companion for centering and intention — and a culturally rich gift that carries centuries of Japanese craft heritage.
