Beads turned from yakusugi — ancient cedar from Yakushima island, where only naturally fallen wood may be harvested. Each bead carries hand-carved characters of the Heart Sutra, one of Asia's most beloved classical texts.
In Japanese folk tradition the name yakusugi echoes 'yaku-sugi' — 'misfortune passed' — making this wood a treasured charm for protection and longevity. The honey-sweet aroma deepens to a warm amber luster with wear.
