A 108-bead juzu strand of lignum vitae — Latin for 'the wood of life,' and known in Japan as ryokutan, the 'green sandalwood.' Long prized as a folk remedy across cultures.
Among the hardest woods in the world, lignum vitae develops a stone-like sheen with use and gradually shifts from a calm green to a deep, reddish-brown patina — a slow, quiet record of time. Rose quartz, the soft pink stone associated with gentleness and warmth, accents the strand and balances the wood's stillness.
The 108-bead format is the traditional Kyoto juzu strand length — wrap it several times around the wrist for a layered bracelet, or wear it long as a single-strand necklace. Hand-finished by a master Kyoto juzu artisan on quadruple silicone cord for easy on-off.
A versatile, gender-neutral heritage piece — for daily wear, for centering practice, or as a quietly significant gift.
