Overview

This weekend, WAZA Shop hosts a free tasting of ROKKATEI sweets. Founded in 1933 in Obihiro, Hokkaido, ROKKATEI has become one of Japan’s most beloved confectioners, known for sweets built on the rich dairy of Japan’s northern island.

Two special items we don’t usually carry, available in limited quantities.

• Marusei Toffee. Pieces of Marusei biscuit, soybeans, and almonds folded into rich butter caramel. 18 pieces (6 packs of 3).
• Menkoi Petite Madeleines (Menkoi Daiheigen). Bite-size madeleines with a deep, buttery flavor. In Hokkaido dialect, menkoi means “cute.” 100 g (3.5 oz) bag.
