Free tasting at WAZA Shop

September 12 – 13
11AM – 6PM
WAZA Shop @ JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles
PARTNERS: soi (Obu, Aichi)

For two days, WAZA is opening the bags. Come taste soi granola on Level 2 of JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles—including the flavors that do not exist anywhere else on a granola shelf.

A granola built out of the Japanese pantry

soi is made by hand in Obu, a small city in Aichi Prefecture, in the maker’s own workshop. Some of the flavors are what you would expect—apple, black tea, the original. The rest come out of the Japanese pantry: matcha, yuzu, black sesame, seaweed-wasabi, and miso.

The miso is the one to try first. It is savory before it is sweet, and it makes the case for granola as something other than a breakfast cereal—over vanilla ice cream, on a salad, or eaten by the handful.

Every flavor is gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, and vegan.

The name

The name, soi (素意, so-i), is an old Japanese word for an intention you have held quietly for a long time. The brand’s phrase for it is “a single grain of hospitality”: something small, made carefully, given to someone you care about. That includes yourself.

At the tasting

The bites are the centerpiece this weekend. They are what people come back for—one at a time, out of a pack in a bag or a desk drawer—and soi is bringing a larger size, made for exactly that. Taste your way across the flavors, then take home the one you did not expect to like.

Granola is available in store too, while stock lasts.
