Haku Meiga—a series where master foil artisans recreate famous ukiyo-e with Kanazawa Haku, letting the artwork glow against a luminous foil background.
The motif is Kuniyoshi’s “Mitate Tokaido Gojusan-tsugi: Okabe”, The Origin of the Cat Stone, a powerful depiction of a supernatural cat (bake-neko). The intense stare and dynamic composition have made it a favorite among cat lovers.
Use it as a bold tray for keys and accessories, or as a small serving tray for sweets.
Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 – 1861) was a wildly popular ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo period, famous for warrior prints, bold composition, and a playful sense of humor.
