Kutani ware is a Japanese porcelain tradition from Ishikawa Prefecture, celebrated for vivid overglaze enamel painting and rich color.
Aochibu (“blue dots”) is a technique of lining up tiny raised dots of blue enamel to create a texture like sharkskin. This cup combines aochibu with clematis arabesques and seigaiha waves in white dots—an auspicious pattern.
The interior is lined with pure gold leaf, finished to bring out its full shine. Use it for sake or tea, or as a small dessert bowl for ice cream and sweets. The cups stack neatly, so it’s easy to collect several patterns.
