Oborozuki means “hazy moon”—the soft, veiled moon of a spring night, a favorite image in Japanese poetry. In this series, a master woodturner shapes natural Japanese wood thin, the surface is finished with wiped urushi lacquer to bring out the grain, and a leaf artisan creates the moon using pure gold leaf alone. The wood grain becomes a landscape, with the moon floating above it.
