A juzu bead bracelet of rare purpleheart wood, with the full Heart Sutra — one of Asia's most beloved sacred texts — engraved bead by bead by a master artisan.
Native to Central and South America, purpleheart has a remarkable quality: pale on the lathe, it shifts to a deep violet on exposure to air. Treasured for centuries for that noble color, it has been used in fine furniture and luxury craft. The wood is also dense and exceptionally hard — well suited to a piece intended to be worn for a lifetime.
The engraving wraps the full circumference of the strand — one complete cycle of the text around the wrist. Worn as a daily talisman, the engraving is widely associated with tranquility and clear-mindedness. A master Kyoto juzu artisan strings each piece on quadruple silicone cord; presented in a paulownia (kiri) gift box.
A meaningful gift for someone whose wellbeing you wish to honor.
