Wood is porous. Add two or three drops of essential oil to the hollow on top of this diffuser, and the hinoki draws the oil in, then releases it into the air a little at a time — no water, no heat, no cord. The scent stays close: enough for a desk, a nightstand or an entryway, not a whole room.
The wood is hinoki (Japanese cypress) from the Yoshino forest in Nara, a tree long used in Japan for temple buildings and traditional bathtubs. Grain and color vary from piece to piece.
How to use
Set the diffuser on a small glass or ceramic dish, then add 2–3 drops of essential oil to the hollow on top. How long the scent lasts depends on the oil and the room temperature. When it fades, add a few more drops.
Changing scents
Rinse the diffuser with hot water and let it dry completely before using a different oil.
